The Corpus of Interactions between Seniors and an Empathic Virtual Coach in Spanish, French and Norwegian was built within the EMPATHIC project (Empathic, Expressive, Advanced Virtual Coach to Improve Independent Healthy-Life-Years of the Elderly), funded within the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program. It consists of video recordings, obtained through a webcam. These recordings were made during user conversations with a Wizard of Oz (WOZ) and with an automatic dialogue system. Several topics were involved in the conversations that were carried out in three different languages: Spanish, French and Norwegian.
The database is divided into three partitions:
• Wizard of Oz (WOZ): A total of 153 users with a mean age of 69.49 for Spanish, 73.48 for French and 74.77 for Norwegian were recorded. They are distributed as follows: 78 Spanish (24 males, 54 females), 44 French (16 males, 28 females), 31 Norwegian (10 males, 21 females). The users had two different conversations. A first one, aimed at strengthening users in the use of the system, about leisure (mainly travels and music). And a second conversation about nutritional habits.
• Wizard of Oz additional (WOZ+): A total of 101 users with a mean age of 70.04 for Spanish, 75.83 for French and 72.60 for Norwegian were recorded. They are distributed as follows: 26 Spanish (10 males, 16 females), 12 French (4 males, 8 females), 63 Norwegian (31 males, 32 females). Again, the users had two different conversations. One related to their physical activity habits and another one related to their nutritional habits.
• Automatic System (AS): +): A total of 81 users with a mean age of 71.59 for Spanish, 68.67 for French and 73.42 for Norwegian were recorded. They are distributed as follows: 31 Spanish (16 males, 15 females), 24 French (10 males, 14 females), 26 Norwegian (18 males, 8 females). It consists of recordings of users speaking with an automatic dialogue system. The recordings consisted of coaching sessions on nutritional habits.
This package includes:
• Video recordings during the WOZ, WOZ+ and AS experiments.
• Manual transcriptions of WOZ (Spanish, French and Norwegian), WOZ+ (Spanish and Norwegian) and AS experiments (Spanish and Norwegian).
• Annotations for WOZ experiments (Spanish, French and Norwegian): emotions from speech, emotions from face, semantic annotation, dialog act annotations.
• Corpus of dialogs, which consists of:
- WOZ experiments : user and machine turns (Spanish, French and Norwegian), their translation into English, the translation from English to the other two languages
- WOZ+ and AS experiments: user and machine turns (Spanish and Norwegian)
• General demographic data
• Questionnaires administrated after the interaction:
- the Virtual Agents’ Acceptance Questionnaire for WOZ, WOZ+ and AS experiments,
- the Software Usability Scale for WOZ experiments,
- the emotion self-annotation for WOZ, WOZ+ and AS experiments,
- final scores of Word Health Organization Quality of Life and Geriatric Depression Scale for WOZ, WOZ+ and AS experiments plus,
- Geriatric Anxiety Inventory final score for WOZ+ and AS experiments.
The file names are coded so that the user identification and personal data are not provided.
An additional package may be distributed upon demand and agreement on a case by case basis. It consists of questionnaires administrated before interaction with the users:
• Word Health Organization Quality of Life for WOZ, WOZ+ and AS experiments.
• Geriatric Depression Scale 30 for WOZ, WOZ+ and AS experiments.
• Geriatric Anxiety Inventory for WOZ+ and AS experiments

Le corpus d’interactions entre des personnes âgées et le Coach Virtuel Empathic en espagnol, français et norvégien a été conçu dans le cadre du projet EMPATHIC (coach virtuel empathique, expressif et avancé pour améliorer la qualité de vie et de santé des personnes âgées), financé par l’Union européenne via le programme Innovation et Recherche Horizon 2020. Il comprend des enregistrements vidéos, obtenus via une webcam, réalisés au cours de conversations d’utilisateurs avec d’un système « magicien d’Oz » et un système de dialogue automatique. Plusieurs sujets ont été abordés dans les conversations qui ont été réalisées dans trois langues différentes: espagnol, français et norvégien.
La base de données est divisée en trois partitions:
• Magicien d’Oz (WOZ): un total de 153 utilisateurs a été enregistré, avec une moyenne d’âge de 69,49 ans pour l’espagnol, 73,48 ans pour le français et 74,77 pour le norvégien. Ceux-ci sont répartis comme suit: 78 locuteurs espagnols (24 hommes, 54 femmes), 44 français (16 hommes, 28 femmes), 31 norvégiens (10 hommes, 21 femmes). • Les annotations des expérimentations WOZ (espagnol, français et norvégien): émotions de la parole, émotions du visage, annotations sémantiques, annotations des actes de dialogue.
• Le corpus de dialogues, qui comprend:
- les expérimentations WOZ: tours de parole utilisateur et machine (espagnol, français et norvégien), leur traduction en anglais, la traduction de l’anglais vers les deux autres langues
- les expérimentations WOZ+ et AS: tours de parole utilisateur et machine (espagnol et norvégien)
• Des données démographiques générales
• Les questionnaires administrés à la suite de l’interaction:
- Le questionnaire d’acceptation des agents virtuels pour les expérimentations WOZ, WOZ+ et AS,
- L’échelle d’utilisabilité du logiciel pour les expérimentations WOZ,
- L’annotation de leurs propres émotions pour les expérimentations WOZ, WOZ+ et AS,
- Les scores finaux des questionnaires sur la qualité de vie de l’Organisation mondiale de la santé et de l'échelle de dépression gériatrique pour les expérimentations WOZ, WOZ+ et AS,
- Les scores finaux du questionnaire de l’inventaire de dépression gériatrique pour les expérimentations WOZ+ et AS.
Les noms de fichiers sont codés de manière à ce que l’identification de l’utilisateur et les données personnelles ne soient pas fournies.
Un ensemble de données additionnel peut être distribué sur demande et après accord discuté au cas par cas. Il comprend les questionnaires administrés avant l’interaction avec les utilisateurs:
• La qualité de vie de l’Organisation mondiale de la santé pour les experimentations WOZ, WOZ+ et AS.
• L'échelle de dépression gériatrique 30 pour les expérimentations WOZ, WOZ+ et AS.
• L’inventaire de dépression gériatrique pour les expérimentations WOZ+ et AS
